What are the stages in learning to fly?

Block 1

  • Stage one (called Block 1) is the first solo just described above.

Block 2

  • allows you to fly solo in the nearby “training area” to practise some more advanced procedures.

Block 3

  • prepares you for your Recreational Pilots Licence (RPL)). That is the qualification you need to be able to take your friends up with you in the local area (25 nautical miles / 45 kilometres).
